British Policy on Domestic Violence

The response to tackling domestic violence is included in the Governments Call to End Violence Against Women and Girls.

Published on 25 November 2010, the strategic narrative sets out the UK Government’s long term priorities for tackling violence against women and girls. This was followed by the publication of a full plan of action in March 2011. For the first time the strategy brings together work to tackle violence against women in the UK with details of the international approach to tackle this global problem.

The Home Secretary chairs an inter-ministerial group specifically on violence against women and girls. This high-level group pushes forward policy in this area as well as monitoring process against key actions.
