Crime prevention registries in the EU: a scoping review
The purpose of this paper is twofold. First, it aims to outline the role of crime prevention registries and how they contribute to an evidence-based approach to crime prevention. It also details how eligibility criteria, assessment criteria, and the design choices of such registries impact what they look like and how useful they are for decision-makers and implementers. Second, it provides an overview of existing crime prevention registries in the EU (and one from the UK), based on a survey of EUCPN National Representatives and registry administrators.
The paper intends to support registry administrators as well as those planning to set up a crime prevention registry. It describes the most important design considerations, shows what the options are and how they play out, and provides an insight into existing registries.
