The Stockholm Criminology Symposium

The Stockholm Criminology Symposium is an annual event which attracts some 500 attendees from all over the world. The primary purpose of the Symposium is to create an environment where international criminologists, policy makers, practitioners and others engaged in criminal policy matters can take part of the latest research findings of importance for crime policy. The participants will be able to discuss strategies, methods and measures to reduce crime and improve levels of safety in society. The Symposium is organized by the Swedish National Council of Crime Prevention (abbreviated Brå in Swedish) on behalf of the Swedish Government.

The symposium program traditionally follow two main tracks. One theme is based on the work of the prize winner(s) and the other theme is based on contemporary criminology. The program includes a large number of parallel sessions, as well as the prize winners' lecture. Prospective speakers are now welcome to submit their Call for presentation. Follow the guidelines and submit your abstract here. All abstracts must be submitted by February 28, 2022. The main theme is understanding the mechanisms that cause crime and promote desistance from crime. There is also a general theme, Contemporary Criminology, which covers a broad range of subjects in the area of criminology.
