CEPOL-EUCPN Webinar: Crime prevention targeting high-risk victim groups

The webinar provides a theoretical overview combined with practical information and examples on crime prevention and crime prevention initiatives. Participants will gain knowledge about high-risk victim groups, repeat and secondary victimisation, victim-centred approach and multi-agency cooperation.

The first part of the webinar will examine which groups of people can be considered as high-risk victim groups due to their personal susceptibility characteristics. We will then discuss how the victim-centred approach as well as multi-agency cooperation can play a role in preventing secondary victimisation. Furthermore, we will focus on breaking the cycle of repeat victimisation by encouraging victims’ reporting behaviours, referring them successfully to other support services and assisting them during a potential court trial.

In the second part of the webinar, the three winning projects of the European Crime Prevention Award 2022 will be presented on the topic of high-risk victim groups:

  1. Sweden: Risk reduction intervention
  2. The Netherlands: HackShield future cyber heroes
  3. Denmark: Systemic forensic medical screening of children in cases of suspected physical violence
