Icehearts is not considered as a diversion from or alternative to time spend in criminal activity. Rather, sport is used as a means of establishing relationships with at-risk children and their families. The programme also aims at preventing circumstances that would lead to the taking of the child into custody by the child welfare authorities. Other objectives are to decrease inequality, prevent truancy and drop-outs, help ensure a peaceful and orderly school environment.

The main goal of this project is to teach parents, teachers and children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) symptoms the behavioural mechanisms, social skills and pedagogical tricks in order to help the ADHD child to cope with her/his life. Those skills support the teachers’ efforts and aims to develop joint work between school and parents of children with ADHD or its symptoms.
