The Harrow Sanctuary Scheme is a victim centred initiative, which makes it possible for victims of domestic violence to voluntarily remain in their homes and feel safe, without fear of attack. The main feature of this pioneering scheme is the creation of a sanctuary or safe room within the house, which enables the occupier to retreat to a place of safety to await the arrival of the police and other emergency services.

The objective of the project is to reduce this gap through prevention in all its aspects. Therefore, it is imperative that public authorities and private stakeholders are associated both in the implementation of actions and in their evaluation.
