Actions against Radicalization and Extremism

The aim of this action was the continuous education and awareness of "frontline professionals.“ In order to achieve prevention in the field of support of terrorism and promotion of extremist ideology active participation - involvement of a wide range of actors is required. In particular, frontline police officers, prison staff, intelligence officers, coast guard officers, asylum officers and customs officers are important for the successful prevention of radicalization. Through training, they should become able to identify signs of radicalization at an early stage, thus to know and understand the signs of radicalization and recruitment to terrorism. Moreover, they should be able to offer support to people at risk or transferring them to specialized professionals for further assistance. For this purpose, a pool of 60 trained trainers was created and additionally 125 first line practitioners were trained.
